Crediton's Organic Veg Box Scheme
Linscombe Farm aims to provide the best possible seasonal produce to local people who care about what they eat and where it comes from. As much as we can, we aim to manage the growing process ourselves, so that we can control the quality of our produce at every stage. With Linscombe produce, from the seed to your table, you can be confident in the origin of your vegetables. The aim of this is to provide the freshest possible vegetables, so that the families who buy them get the full health benefits, whilst genuinely reducing food miles.

The Crediton area garden share scheme has been launched in association with Southwest Counties Allotment Association (SWCAA)
Many people are now looking to grow their own fruit and veg, but it is often the case that they do not necessarily have the land on which to be able to grow them. The Crediton garden share scheme has been launched for the Crediton area as a local initiative whose aim is to match people who have a garden or piece of land that is underused or goes unmanaged for whatever reason with like-minded people who would like to grow their own food. With long waiting lists for allotments, this may be the answer to providing a suitable plot. The owner will get part of their garden cultivated, and the gardener gets more growing space.
Some basic points of the scheme
- It is aimed at bringing together people who have a garden that they cannot look after and people who want a growing space.
- The garden owner offers an agreed part of their garden for a grower to grow produce.
- The gardener is responsible for their plot and will share an agreed proportion of the produce with the garden owner.
- The garden should be accessible without going through the house.
- No money changes hands.
- Under the remit of the scheme the gardener is not available to undertake other gardening jobs such as trimming hedges, mow lawns or general upkeep.
- Gardeners will be matched with gardens as close as possible to each other.
- Gardeners will be asked to join South West Allotments Association (SWAAA) as a member (currently £2 a year) to cover them for public liability insurance in the garden they work in.
- The garden owner does not take any responsibility or liability for vehicles, persons, crops or personal possessions on site.
If you are interested in registering for this scheme, either as a garden owner or grower please click here to complete a registration form. Note no details will be passed onto anyone registering their interest until further information has been gained and checks made.
What happens next?
You will be contacted and asked to complete a questionnaire to find out your preferences and wishes. When a suitable match is found the garden owner will be given details of the gardener and permission sought for the gardener to be given details of the garden owner.
The gardener and garden owner will be asked to sign an agreement in order to provide an understanding and an outline of the agreement they are undertaking.
The gardener will be asked to join SWCAA (£2 per person
per year) to cover public liability insurance.
Once this is in place, get gardening and enjoy healthy,
local produce!
