Xmas Message from the Chair of CCA

10 December 2008

As we approach the end of 2008 all of us who are active in CCA can celebrate what we have achieved over the past year.

We now have 10 active subgroups or affiliated groups, including ones on food and public awareness which have recently been set up, and we have been registered as a Transition Town.We are well on the way to becoming a plastic bag free town, public transport and cycling are being promoted in a variety of ways and energy audits are being carried out.

A youth group has been set up at QECC and workshops held there. We organised a successful strategy workshop and hope to complete this early in 2009.

We have a flourishing website and our latest initiative is to set up a community cafe/resource base for CCA in the old Town Hall and work is well underway to bring that about.

There is lots more to do in 2009 including working with others to get our voice heard at the Copenhagen summit in December, a crucial world conference for tackling climate change.

I would like to thank you all for all you have done this year to create a more sustainable community in Crediton and wish you a very happy Christmas and and New Year.

Gerald Conyngham on behalf of the CCA Steering Committee.
