Many local people are very sad to see Sue Lee retire as
supervisor of Crediton Library.
She has created a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at the
library such that it has become a friendly and warm hub for the
community over the past eight years that she has been in post. It
must be one of the busiest libraries for its size in the
county!
With a degree in Environmental Studies, Sue has championed
sustainability.
She has worked hard to develop the community garden at the back
of the library with decking, planters with herbs and flowers, a
water bath and two hand crafted benches made by local people.
In addition, she has introduced the food larder into the
vestibule of the library (although it frequently extends!) and has
overseen the installation of the community fridge. Volunteers from
Sustainable Crediton collect surplus food from local supermarkets
and take delivery of food from FareShare for people in the
community to take for free; it is a much appreciated resource by a
wide range of people. In order to play her part, Sue obtained a
food standards certificate, she developed a rigorous system to
ensure that things run smoothly and liaised with Mid Devon Council;
she even collected food from Morrison's in her own car four times
in one memorable day!
She will be so missed. But her legacy lives on and we have much
to be grateful to Sue for.
