Broadband for Rural Crediton News

The Broadband for Rural Crediton group have been continuing their search for so-called dark fibre, which would be an essential ingredient for any community-led fibre-to-the-home broadband scheme. Dark fibre is optical fibre laid around the country by the telecomms companies as an investment in the future, but not yet used by anyone. We have identified at least two companies potentially with dark fibre running under the A3072 from Crediton to Tiverton (and onwards), but as yet have not been able to get them to talk to us. This could be a 'stopper' for a community scheme.

In early May B4RC will meet with the head of "Connecting Devon & Somerset" to explore possible collaboration between CDS and B4RC. The results of this discussion will be reported on the B4RC website.
