The Food Larder team would like to hear from you if you would
like to take part in the regular food collections from local
shops. We need volunteers to be on call when the usual
collectors are unable to do their collection or for taking on a
regular slot. We offer some simple training in the library.
Why do we do it?
To try to make sure food is not wasted and binned. We are not a
part of the Crediton Food Bank, though we support the food bank
where we can.
How does it work?
Each day we have various shops in and around town that offer
left over food - mainly bread, cakes, fruit and vegetables. We take
that to the library where anyone is able to come and help
themselves. There is no cost. Most collections are possible on foot
though we have some, such as the supermarkets, where a car is
needed. On Fridays we have a large delivery from the national group
Fairshare to the Age Concern building on Deep Lane, near to the
library.
If you would like to help, contact us at info@sustainablecrediton.org.uk. Please
include Food Larder in the title.
