A montage of local produce

The September Community Market once more had a tempting range of locally grown or produced foods and a wonderful selection of locally made crafts.

In addition, the Devon Travel Roadshow visited the Community Market last month bringing their recently kitted out van able to take information about Sustainable Travel in Devon out to events and communities. Staff were on hand to help with enquiries giving practical help and advice on walking, cycling, bus and rail travel, car sharing and eco-driving and personalised journey planning advice. Also available were maps, timetables, referral to cycle training and buddy sessions. The IPad connection was popular, allowing people to look for advice or raise concerns and requests about travel in Devon.

The speed trial bike brought produced some very fast speeds with a prize for the fastest lady, won by Victoria Hampshire of Sandford and Chris Wall of Crediton carried off the prize for fastest man reaching 17.1 mph. The generous prizes were donated by the Bike Shed of Crediton. A prize for children was donated by Sustainable Crediton and was awarded to David and Anna Tillen who beat some adults. Their father was delighted, the family had just returned from a cycling holiday and he hoped the prizes would help encourage the children to continue cycling.
