Coppicing finished after a successful winter season.

31 March 2019

The past six months has seen the Woodland and Hedgerow Group working at Moor Farm near Morchard Bishop. We have been coppicing a piece of previously coppiced native woodland which had become overgrown with both hazel and undergrowth. Over the last 6 months we have cleared much of the bramblely undergrowth and coppiced the hazel, opening up the piece of woodland to the light. We hope to see lots of bluebells coming through over the next few weeks.

This video shows the benefits to wildlife of coppicing.

The work parties will commence again in October. Should you be interested in joining us, please contact Charles Mossman through the link on the right hand side.
