Review of Devon Lanes Bike Ride

Sustainable Crediton is exploring the possibility of more regular organised cycle rides after the success of a happy, gentle spin around the local lanes on Saturday 15 June.

"The rain at breakfast-time may have deterred a few people, but we were delighted by the enthusiasm of those who braved it. Numbers were into double figures, and everyone completed the ride", said co-organiser Ken McKechnie, who rides 100 miles a week to keep fit.

The ride, designed for less hardy cyclists, travelled the lanes from The Square in Crediton to the Thorverton Arms for coffee and cake and, after a picnic by the Exe at Brampford Speke, back to The Square in time to enjoy the afternoon at the Food Festival. And hardly any rain fell.

Sustainable Crediton's Transport Group promoted the ride, which was also an event for Credfest and National Bike Week. Riders brought contributions for Crediton Foodbank as their entry fee.

People interested in joining group rides should contact Laura Conyngham.
