Review of Boniface Trail Community Cycle Ride

Town Square, Crediton GoogleMap

"Went on the cycle ride today, enjoyed it and want to go again. Great people, great views and very windy", reported a cyclist, new to the group.

Ten cyclists took part in the Sunday ride from Town Square to Coleford's New Inn, for welcome coffee and conversation, returning through Copplestone, Newbuildings and Sandford.

Those at the evening meeting were pleased with the first draft of a family friendly cycling leaflet and made suggestions for improvements.

One of us will attend the Exeter Cycle Forum.

Two of us attended the Raddon Group of Parish Councils meeting at Rewe Village Hall along with 18 councillors from villages (mostly in the Exe valley), Paul Hawkins, Sustrans officer for Devon and Torbay and Ros Davies, Devon County Council footpaths officer. Paul told the meeting that instead of asking him for everything to be done (as some cycle campaigns do), Boniface Trail Group gets on with what we can do ourselves. We need to plan now for when money becomes available. With co-ordination it is possible that a cycle path could be built along the top of, or beside, a new flood defence barrier between Cowley Bridge and St David's station.

Next Meeting: Thurs 27 March 7.30pm Crediton Inn - Kirby James of Exeter CTC will outline how cycle campaigns in other parts of Devon are progressing.

Next Cycle Ride: Sunday 30 March 11am. Depart from Town Square for Salmonhutch and the Lamb, Sandford.
