We had a great time in the Town Square on Sat Nov 1st to celebrate the fact that over 80% of the shops in Crediton have agreed to either give up plastic carrier bags altogether or are phasing them out as current supplies run out.

It was a really nice event and we were delighted to be joined by Rebecca Hosking of Modbury who started the
whole Plastic Bag Free movement off in May 2007.

Mayor Frank Letch signed a plastic bag free charter designed by students in Yr 9 of QE which is now to be displayed in the Town Hall and a giant cake baked by Olivers in the High St was cut up and distributed to all the people who came to watch. The Town Band also kindly played for us and struck up Congratulations as the cake was cut!

There was also some excellent press coverage from the Mid-Devon Star and This Is Devon.
