Notes from WAGs meeting, Monday 11th Feb at Jills house

Present: Jill, Charles, Paula, Anne, Esther

Apologies: Carolyn

1. Plastics collection 23rd January

All agreed it had gone well. Paula
commented that perhaps we needed more traffic control due to some dodgy parking
by the public. Anne had still not had confirmation of weight of plastic from
PWS.

Charles to check with insurers whether we are liable for accidents
if we dedicate someone to directing parking next time.

2. Plastics Collection 9th March

We have a lot of leaflets left
and we should try and use them up.

Charles and possibly Anne to do stint at Tescos on Friday 15/2 with a table of
plastics advertising event and giving out leaflets.

Anne to let Charles know if she is available. We have been asked
by Tescos to do another similar on 7/3 during Tescos climate change week. Charles to
organise this. Paula to help.

Everyone to put out leaflets and posters at same sites as for
collection on 23rd Jan and/or check existing posters are in place. Can use some
of the leaflets as additional posters.

Charles to take some leaflets to the Leisure Centre.

Carolyn to drop off some of remaining leaflets to Morrisons and rest
at Jills for others to collect from there ASAP.

Paula to check Morrisons a couple of times a week to make sure
leaflets are on checkouts.

Charles will put out lollipops and banners on day and collect/set
up A frame

Paula has placed another advert in Courier for edition before
collection date.

Rest of day details as last
time.

Anne to ask Chris Freeman and others if they will help?

3. Future of Plastics Collections

After lots of discussion it was
decided to continue
plastics collections bi-monthly
on 1st Sat of month until
January 2014 with the agreement of Peck & Strong and PWS.

Dates as follows: 4th May, 6th
July, 7th September, 2nd November, 11th Jan 2014.

Jill will check with Peck & Strong and PWS if dates OK.

Carolyn to be asked to make a new leaflet same as last one but with
all 6 dates on once she has heard from Jill that dates are fine. Leaflet to be
ready for 9th March. Suggest 2,000 copies as will cover a 10 month period.

4. Clothes and Household Goods Swap

Paula to organise an A5 leaflet with Hedgrow based on the poster

5. Treasure Hunt

Everyone to come to April meeting with ideas for Waste related questions for Sus Cred Treasure Hunt in June. Idea is to highlight waste reduction and recycling opportunities in Crediton. Agreed reusable bags and water bottles would be good prizes. Paula to relay info to Sarah.

6. Community Market stall

WAGs will organise this on Sat 8th June as part of the Crediton Festival. Will use plastics as our theme and
also have display of what WAGs is about. Will begin organisation at April meeting. As Carolyn was not present not known if anyone had contacted her to help with Waste Sculpture.

7. AOB

Sus Cred has now become a consultee on major planning issues affecting Mid Devon.

Charles to send in WAGs comments on Puddington Anaerobic Digester supporting it in theory but querying why crops had to be grown to supply it rather than using 100% animal manure and slurry.
