Esther Mann, co-ordinator of the Waste Action Group won the Community Group Recycling Hero award. She was presented with the award at the 4th Recycle Devon Thank You award ceremony. Esther won it for her part in managing two hugely successful Give and Take pop up shop events in Crediton last year.

The shop was open for a total of 3 weeks in Feb and Oct and attracted over 8000 people with coverage on Radio Devon and BBC Spotlight. People dropped off unwanted goods and could take away any goods - all for free.  It is estimatd 8.5 tonnes of goods changed hands, saving items from landfill and many people very happy with what they had picked up.

It is planned to run another Give and Take event sometime later this year, with details currently being looked at.
