Happy New Year

Happy New Year 2016 to all Sustainable Crediton Supporters!

We have reason to be optimistic because of the historic agreement made in Paris with the ambition to keep global temperature rises below 1.5 degrees. However the deal will require people-power from organisations like ours to make politicians live up to their rhetoric, because we have not got the legally-binding agreement that was needed.  And since our Government signed the agreement, we have seen solar PV subsidies cut drastically, 159 fracking licences awarded and legislation to frack under national parks approved.

The New Year is all about making resolutions. Would you like to get more involved in our activities? In this newsletter we have a number of specific opportunities for people to volunteer and help us.

Core Group Vacancies

We have three vacancies on our Core Group for a Publicity person, a secretary and a general Core Group member. The Core Group meets no more than once a month for a couple of hours and supports the work of our Action Groups. Details of the publicity position and the duties of the Core Group members are explained in our Constitution. If you would like to take up any of these roles please contact our chair, Sarah Green.

Credit Union

We need a pool of volunteers to run this service and are currently recruiting more people. There is always an experienced volunteer of the two on duty each one and a half hour session. Most people are on the rota once or twice a month according to their preference. Training is provided. Read more about the Credit Union below.

Action Group Sessions

Our Waste, Energy, Food, Transport, Hedgerow Groups and Pig Club all have meetings this month. I promise you that you will get a warm welcome if you did want to come along. Just contact the relevant group co-ordinator, details are on the website.

Events

On the 20th February we have the Seed Share at the Old Town Hall from 11am to 2pm. This year there will be live entertainment from the Woodmen.
