Fruit Tree Planting

Having spoken to specialist tree nursery's the advice is to plant in January rather than December. We hope that as many people as possible will consider planting a fruit tree in their garden this year. Trees can be planted even in small spaces on root stock which will limit growth. We aim to start this year with Apple, Pear and Plum. The cost of a tree will be between £6 to £10, cheaper the more we buy. A local business has been approached for some funding to support this so there may be trees available at even lower cost.

The trees will be small (a bare rooted whip) but will develop all the stronger for being planted as young as possible. Within 3 years they will have caught up and probably overtaken a potted tree bought from a garden centre.

Please let us know if you would definitely like a tree or give me a ring if you would like to see the brochure with varieties available. We will aim to make an order August/September. And please publicise this as widely as possible.
