Notes from the Meeting

1) Aplogies

Carolyn and Stella

2) Matters Arising

Paula to resend details of recycling businesses to all for the Reuse project.

3) Feedback from Recycling at Food Festival

The nature of the festival has changed with more professional food outlets needing an effective waste disposal service. We might need to do the recycling in a different way in future. Perhaps the 4 bins in the square could be blocked off.

Action - Jill to contact Jason at MDDC to ensure that all the waste we collected was recycled properly.

Action - Esther to contact Tim to see if the Food Festival is having a feedback session and to ask for a member of WAG to attend.

4) Refurnish Give and Take Event

Discussion of practicalities involved in putting on the event now that WAG have met with Kate at Refurnish.

Action - Paula to email volunteers asking for help. Deadline for reply. To let WAGs know the outcome by the end of July.

Action- WAG to make a decision on whether to go ahead when volunteers have replied. May need to start work early Sept.

Action - Charles to contact Kate to see if she has any volunteers who would help.

5)Plastic recycling - last one 25th July

Discussion of confusion with MDDC taking over plastic recycling.

Action - Paula to put ad in Courier for 13/07 and thanking all for their past support.

Action - Paul to do article for Courier in Sept reminding people that we are no longer doing plastic recycling. Also, informing people that they can have an extra black box for their plastic if necessary.

Action - later, to write letter with info to encourage public to use the new system.

Action - later, to contact Felicity at MDDC for feedback on new system.

Action - Esther to ensure all leaflets, posters in town are taken down and to send thank you card to Peck and Strong.

Action - Esther to answer email from Liz Brooks Hocking.

Action - Anne and Charles to speak to PWS about 25/07 collection. Anne to take green and black boxes on 25/07 and give out recycling info to people and to have a volunteer sign up list.

Action - Charles to get info from MDDC about the issue of 'stretchy plastic' and to contact Uffculme Group.

The group decided to campaign to increase public's recycling awareness once the new system has had time to settle in. Possibly do an article for the paper entitled 'What's my rubbish got to do with global warming?'
