Sustainable Crediton Newsletter Issue 29

Hello everyone,

As the end of 2012 is approaching rapidly, our thoughts naturally turn to seasonal celebrations and the Core Group of Sustainable Crediton would like to wish everyone reading this a wonderful festive season. Look out for our Christmas Tree at the Christmas Tree Festival in Holy Cross Church from the 6th to 9th December.

Our next newsletter will come out early in the New Year but we already have some excellent events lined up for next year including, on the 18th January, a chance to meet up with friends or like-minded people from Sustainable Crediton when we show a film "In Transition 2.0 " at the Arts Centre. January 26th also sees the return of our successful plastics collection days at a new venue, Peck & Strong, Lords Meadow. Then in February another chance to socialise, this time at the Boniface Centre, where we will be holding a talk  'Shrinking the giant hamster: how we can be better off without growth.'

The New Year is a time for resolutions. If you were thinking of becoming more involved in some of Sustainable Crediton's activities, then the newsletter gives you three chances to a greater or lesser extent! Firstly we would like a group of supporters to help us answer the question "Who do we think we are talking to? " This is likely to be a one-off meeting. Then we have an opportunity to coordinate a memories and lost skills project in association with the Crediton History Society. And finally we are looking for a someone to help us improve the way we publicise ourselves.

Finally, we have made some improvements to our website, offering readers the chance to interact with article writers by making comments on some pages. Why not give this a try on a controversial subject, Wind Turbines, where we have set out our position. We would really like to hear your views.

Charles Mossman

Who do we think we are talking to? What do we say?

It seems we are not quite sure as sure as we should be about who Sustainable Crediton is seeking to influence, and what we should say to them. Which, considering that we are all about changing what people think and do, is a slight problem . . . but apart from that, we are a strong, healthy ...
