Sustainable Crediton Newsletter Issue 52

Welcome to November's newsletter. Our Energy Group's feasibility study into a renewable energy project has produced a lot of welcome feedback both in the local papers and social media. You can get a flavour of the discussions by accessing our Facebook page and reading the report below.

One of the findings from our Back to the Future Revisited workshop in September was to train more of our supporters on our website management system. This we hope will facilitate skill sharing and a greater supporter input to the newsletter. We are intending to run a half day course during November and if you feel you would like to be trained, please let me know as soon as possible as we have only a couple of spaces remaining. We'll arrange a suitable date once we have the minimum of six people required.

There will be a Victorian themed fancy dress flag parade on Friday 28th organised by the Arts Centre. The parade will assemble at St Lawrence Green at 6.45pm and set off at 7pm, proceeding along the High Street towards the Town Square for a ceremony to switch on the town's Christmas lights and tree. This will be followed by live music from the fabulous local band Electric Spank until 9pm. There will be stalls serving hot food and drinks in the square. We will be taking part and are currently looking for a flag holder and as many supporters as possible to join in the fun on the night by joining us at the start.

Over the final weekend of the month, we have our regular waste plastics collection at Peck & Strong's, Lords Meadow Industrial Estate from 10 am to 12:30pm on Saturday 29th and on Sunday 30th meet in the Town Square at 11am for the regular monthly cycle ride, this time going to Lapford.

Our Christmas meal at Il Casita on the 9th December at 7pm now has 9 people going. We would like many more. If you are interested in coming then please would you confirm by emailing claireduthie@live.co.uk, or ringing her on 01363 777312 or posting a confirmation message on the Sustainable Crediton Facebook page.

Recycling: Why is it so confusing?

Have you ever wondered why there is a completely different recycling system in North Tawton and Crediton or for that matter in Exeter and Newton St Cyres? It's confusing isn't it? Indeed one of the commonest questions we as Sustainable Crediton's Waste Action Group get asked is 'Why can they r ...
