Sustainable Crediton Newsletter 168, June 2025

We are very pleased to publish further information about our joint event with The Bookery, 'Our Oaken Bones'. We hope you can come along on 4 July and enjoy a story of positivity and hope.

Also on offer is the chance to visit Taw Valley Dairy, where Sam and Gemma Bullingham farm organically and regeneratively.

This edition of our newsletter is unexpectedly swift-intensive, as swift news has pinged into your editors' in-boxes from a number of sources.

Despite swift numbers declining by 62% between 1995 and 2021, the government has decided not to adopt a proposal that all new homes should incorporate a 'swift brick' at a cost of around £35 each. The news otherwise on the Planning and Infrastructure Bill which is before parliament, is no more encouraging. It's time to get writing to the appropriate MPs and government department: see under News Highlights.

Don't forget our Facebook group where you can share news and opinion on all matters sustainable.

Best wishes,

John Craythorne and Lesley Thomas, joint newsletter editors.
