Sustainable Crediton Newsletter 171, September 2025

Welcome to our September newsletter. It's a time for new beginnings, and what better way to re-energise than to come along to our Green Fair in the Town Square on 27th September? There will be lots of exhibitors, a display and information about Sustainable Crediton's projects and events, music, and something nice to eat. A chance to find new activities to take part in and to make new friends, as the nights draw in to autumn.

Trees feature quite heavily in this issue. On 19th of October the Tree Team (tree planting and maintenance) reconvenes for the new season, meeting at Beacon Park and finishing in the convivial surroundings of Union Road Moto Velo: see Dates for your Diary for further details. Meanwhile, the Woodland Management Group picks up where it left off in the spring with it's coppicing project near Morchard Bishop: dates and further information below.

It's always good to see familiar faces, but really good to see new ones. You are our future, and you are welcome!

John Craythorne and Lesley Thomas, joint newsletter editors

Hedgerow Defenders

Hedgerow Defenders is an organisation which I've not come across before. It is evidently in the process of seeking charitable status, so may be fairly new. Their website doesn't pull punches. On the other hand, it's hard to argue with what they have to say, given the sorry state of so many hedges ...
