WEN News

We wish everyone a happy Winter Solstice, Christmas and New Year!

We will have decorated the WEN tree at the Crediton Christmas Tree Festival - I hope many of you came to look at all the wonderfully decorated trees from so many organisations and groups in the area. Our theme was 're-use and recycle' - something we are hoping to carry forward throughout the festive season. Cutting back on the amount of rubbish which accumulates over December doesn't have to be difficult. Scrunched up wrapping paper is useful for lighting stoves, left over veg from Christmas dinner can be souped or bubble and squeaked, and try and choose children's presents that aren't encased and wrapped in layers of plastic.

If you've never made it to a WEN meeting before then please do come to one of these events. We are a small, friendly group of women - quite a few with small children, many of us juggling a number of jobs and commitments - and it would be nice to see some new faces.

For any RSVPs, or questions please contact me, Kate Povey

At our April meeting we decided to resurrect the popular Teddy Bear's Picnic this summer. The date will be announced soon. We hope to have music, food, balloon modelling, facepainting, circus games and lots of fun - venue is probably at the bandstand again.

We will also be at the Big Sunday Lunch with a stall selling high quality organic, fairtrade and locally grown food: pizza, pies, cakes and biscuits. We are also having a 'guess the name' teddy bear to raise funds for the Teddy Bear's Picnic.

WEN Tarka Trail Walk

The grey skies on the day of our WEN Tarka Trail Walk didn't bode well for a good turnout and it was just the three of us who caught the train to Eggesford and went walking over fields, under the railway line, over the river (and not quite as buggy friendly as I had promised!) We had a picnic ...
